I have many thoughts on the future of journalism. Considering journalism’s roots and how far we have come as a society when spreading the news, it’s a proven fact that journalism has come a long way as far as spreading news goes. From starting points of letters and telegrams and such simple communications to the printing press which went above and beyond, turning the entire world into a new era. We’ve even outgrown newspapers and television. Journalism is definitely headed into an electronic era. internet is being applied to all aspects of journalism. As far as the writing styles and basic tools, those will never change.

You’ve had a long day at school. You’re tired and you feel like you deserve a snack. You head for the kitchen and instead of saying to yourself, “Oh look! Vegetables!” You’re thinking, “Oh look! A nice soda and chips!” This happens to the best of us. When cravings hit, they hit hard. Lucky for you there are plenty of ways to beat them.

            Though they say there are many different ways to beat them, almost all doctors agree about cravings: it’s in your mind. Think about it. When you want that soda, do you really need it? Can you really not survive without those chips? Of course not. When you find yourself heading for that unhealthy snack, just think to yourself, “does the three seconds of enjoyment I get from this snack really add up to the pride I’ll feel when I see myself in the mirror?” Remember, your mind has power over your body.

            Another way to beat cravings is to eat more frequently. Sounds crazy, right? To be healthier, you should eat more. What this actually means is that you should eat small meals often. When you wait until a designated time to eat, you will probably eat more than you should because your stomach is empty. It’s best not to eat on an empty stomach, so keep healthy snacks with you to eat around the day. Granola bars, fruits, veggies, whatever small portioned, healthy snacks you enjoy.

            Often times, people will have specific cravings. An effective way to not give into these is to reward yourself with something different. If you’re craving something sweet, eat something spicy. If it’s something salty you want, eat something sour, like an orange. Whatever it is, just make sure it’s healthy.
